Sent in Medical Forms

This week I finally had my vision correction exam and had the doctor fill out the form. This was the final form I needed, so after the exam I went to the Post Office and mailed the entire packet. Nothing left to do now but wait.

Timeline - Update

My medical kit came while I was out of town. Now I’m in the process of getting little tick-marks into all of the little boxes on the Checklist. I can’t get an eye exam until the end of October. My file won’t be submitted for my invitation until the Medical Reviewer gets everything and has the time to go through it all. So this is the Big Wait time now.

Timeline - Nomination

I received my official nomination as of September 2, 3008. Special Projects assignment with Peace Corps in North Africa/Middle East, with an anticipated departure date of September, 2009.

Met with the recruiter today and got my nomination. Well, at least, she told me I’d have it as soon as I make the decision either to take a traditional IT teaching job (which would put me in contact with young people, since these are usually high school teaching gigs) in Africa in July, or to take a “special assignment” job – for which they’re requiring at least two years of “visual arts” experience – in North Africa/Middle East (that means either Jordan or Morocco) in September 2009.

I think even though it’s a couple of months further away, I will probably accept the nomination for the special assignment.

Timeline Continued

Today I spoke with my recruiter and I have an appointment for Friday for my interview.

My recruiter and I met at the beach party last Sunday, so she remembered me. She told me when the application came through, the person who handed it off to her said, “You’re gonna love this one; she’s a superstar!” Of course, she's a recruiter, so it's her job to make you feel special, but I hope that it means they’ll have an assignment for me quickly!
