I got a call from the Placement Office yesterday but didn't see the message until this morning. The Placement person had only one question she wanted to check out; having satisfied that, she went on to tell me she's sending out the Invitation today. I'll be working in Small Business Development with handcraft artisans! Woo-hoo!!! I'm so excited!
Time to start brushing up my French!
I can't wait to start telling the world.

Morocco Peace Corps changed my life forever and in the most amazing ways (including my husband Abdeljalil and 4 kids). You need to learm Moroccan ARABIC. French won't help as much. I wish it were me going with you! You are very lucky. The people are incredibly warm and loving, its beautiful there, food is fantastic and you will be appreciated beyond belief. I'll be following you!!

ReplyDeleteSince it would be difficult to learn Darija here and now, I am working on brushing up my French, because the Moroccan program assumes you have some fluency in French, and it's been years since I spoke it regularly.
Meanwhile I am also working on learning to read Arabic, because at least with the written form, there are many local avenues to learning. Not true for Darija, but I will learn that when I get there. At least, knowing how to write (MS) Arabic will be some help (I hope).
